Join the Ottawa Outdoor Gear Library for an outdoor screening and discussion of the 2026 documentary film Out on the Water!
"Out On The Water is a short documentary that follows Demiesha Dennis, founder of Brown Girl Outdoor World, and Ren Navarro, founder of B. Diversity Group, as they wade into the world of fly fishing. Set against the rivers and shorelines where the sport unfolds, the film traces their experiences of learning, patience, and connection in landscapes that can feel off-limits. Through their voices, the film explores questions of identity, belonging, and community in outdoor spaces that have historically excluded Black and queer people. It is a quiet and charming meditation on what it means to claim room in nature — and on the joy, resilience, and kinship that emerge when people find places of their own." - Windsor Black Film Fest
Both Demiesha Dennis and Ren Navarro will be in attendence! We will begin the evening with a discussion of the film, Dennis and Navarro's experiences in finding community outdoors, and their relationships with the land and water within the larger context of Black queer land kinship.
